At The Gunter Hotel, we’re manifesting a Creator’s Salon—a destination that inspires the creator inside all of us to compose their own San Antonio story. Jots embraces this brand platform by encouraging guests to find their muse and jot down lyrics, ideas, and creative sparks inspired by their stay. When the hotel, in its current form, was built in 1909, it was named after Jonathan “Jot” Gunter, a local rancher and real estate developer who helped finance the property. According to historians, Jot lived a life that was “multi-faceted, multi-dimensional. He drew from the flower of life every bit of nectar he could.” This historical connection brings our name full circle—rooted in creativity, expression, and the enduring spirit of inspiration.
